"...on the other man's lawn". ;-)

Characters in the story: Nyssa, 5 mos old, and Sandrine, 3 years 1 month.

This morning I woke up with another hard spot in the upper region of
my left breast. This is the higher producing side, the one Nyssa
nurses off exclusively. Sandrine's side has long since adapted to not
being nursed off at night at all. Nyssa still nurses a couple of
times a night usually, and I produce for it, but I think just the
position she's in when lying down, for some reason, hasn't been
adapted to yet for night time (meaning, she doesn't drain the upper
quadrant). I wouldn't call it a plugged duct in any way, as it is not
painful or hard to get rid of...it's just engorged on the top and not
elsewhere. usually the first 2 nursing sessions of the day get rid of
this, as I do them sitting up and in a different position. This hard
top region to my breast happens fairly regularily...at least once a
week, perhaps more. I think it happens more when I'm more tired and
sleep more deeply...perhaps because I'm producing more (more
prolactine produced in sleep?) and/or also perhaps because I am not
aware enough during the nursing at night when very tired, to massage
the top of my breast to make sure I get the milk flowing from there too.

This morning, Nyssa doesn't seem so interested in nursing, so when
Sandrine asked to nurse for the 2nd time, having drained her side very
well in a 45-minute nursing session only an hour or so ago (toddlers
fluctuate so much, don't they?!), I offered her the "treat" of nursing
off her sister's side. Which she did with enthousiasm. ;-) Helped
me out quite a bit at least. And when she pulled off, she said to me
"me likes Nyssa's side Mom". I said "is it better tasting than your
side?" Of course the answer was yes. ;-)

They're so funny sometimes...
