If she is "doing it right," and breastfeeding very often, her prolactin levels never go low enough to allow her body to beging ovulating.  It took me three kids to figure out how to "do it right", and now I don't menstruate for nearly two years after a birth!  I  love this reprieve!  Only wish it didn't take pregnancy and post-partum to achieve it!
