Is it OK to recommend breastfeeding to a pregnant mom who is currently on
20mg. dose of methadone? I saw in Hale that a dose less than 20 mg daily
is AAP compatible with breastfeeding, but baby should be monitored. so
it seems that 20 mg might be too much. How does one monitor the baby
other than merely looking at the baby for symptoms listed in Hale. In
other words, do blood levels need to be done in the baby.
thanks for your help.
oh-if mom was injecting, she definitely needs to be tested for HIV, yes?
thanks for any input
best,
Pearl
