Another reason for mixing breastmilk with solid food is for the taste to
appeal to the baby. They taste the familar breast milk and are more apt to
try this new food.

I know this worked with my youngest - who started refusing solids, he would
only eat what was mixed with breast milk. Then I realized that my dh's mom
was allergic to squash and his refusal of solids started after I introduced
squash. But now the association was there, solid food = feeling bad, so
when I mixed everything with breast milk he would eat it and realized not
all solid food made him sick.
