    This was a big issue in a hospital I worked at in the 90s.  My group
of LCs decided to let the nurses check a baby's blood sugar, per the
nursery policy,
if they were concerned about the baby being in trouble with a low blood
sugar.  More often than not, the blood sugar was above 40-45.  Slowly the
staff began to bring babies out of the nursery more and more to attempt
breastfeeding, or they would call on me to bring the baby out for the
feeding.
