Renee,
This baby need to be skin-to-skin with her mother...RCT show that this works
better than external warmers in regulating infant tempertature and it also
helps regulate bood sugar (and heart and resp rate) as well as assisting
with breastfeeding (just listened to a talk by NZ OB Alison Barrett who
talked about the efficacy of the "under baby warmer"). Is there any way she
can park herself in the SCN and get that baby strapped to her skin??? It
will also help her feel more confident with the baby (also back by
research!) There really is no reason to keep baby in such a stressful
situation away from her mum.
