Jaye,

I once had a pediatrician call me and say "I was told by XXX that you
told her she can take her medications and breastfeed. Did you tell
her this? The baby is now in the hospital." I said no, that she
didn't tell me she was on any medications. He then listed a whole
bunch. It turned out, this woman was a Munchausen's sort of case. I
wasn't involved after that, but that's the rumor. Anyhow, even before
that I have always thought it best to write down my instructions to
moms because they often are tired and may not remember what I say.
Then if a doc asks you about some information that you gave someone
that is not what you said, you can show him a copy of your
instruction sheet that you gave her.
