There is an article about a 16 yr old with a swollen submandibular gland
(from reduced drainage due to traction from the frenulum) due to tongue
tie. When the frenulum was treated, the submandibular gland returned to
normal, and the spurting of saliva he experienced during speech became
extremely infrequent. The reference is:
Are the Features of Ankyloglossia Limited to the Lingual Fraenum? Kersi
Fanibunda and Agatha Adams, Dental Update, Sept 1998 vol 25, p 296-7.
