Write them a letter. Don't say you are a lactation person - just write them a
genuinely concerned letter that says as an educated consumer you were
delighted at all the breastfeeding support and information available - and
completely confused as to why you were given formula company samples at
birth. Then cite the several papers that were published in top medical
journals describing how diaper discharge backs undermine breastfeeding
success. An MD who gave birth at a Boston hospital not long ago wrote just
such a letter and the hospital completely changed its policy and began giving
out non formula company bags instead.
