Just to add to Rachel's comments,  Cathy Genna will be doing her Annual workshop on Breastfeeding in Special Circumstances on September 23rd for the New York Lactation Consultant Association.   It is a perfect opportunity to learn more about ankyloglossia and breastfeeding management and some of the exercises that can be used with babies. 

I would recommend you might want to consider asking if Cathy Genna or Judy Fram (in Brooklyn) would have some time to mentor you through some of these cases.  One way to do seek out mentors and make it more likely that they will accept you is to   REFER cases to them when you are out of your depth and ask if you can come to watch the consultation with permission of the mother.  Similarly, some of the ENTs will also allow you to watch the frenotomy with permission of the mother.
