Babies sense danger when they are alone. It is more than a preference, it is survival for them. During the day when pregnant mothers are walking and moving, babies are rocked and soothed to sleep.  When most pregnant women sit down for the evening or go to bed, they feel more kicking and activity from their babies.   This 'sleep during the day, awake more during the night' cycle carries over for the first several weeks after birth.  Susan in Minnesotarn ibclc
