The high palate is caused by restricted tongue movement. Muscle moves bone!

The unusual sucking mechanics babies use to try to get milk when they
have a tongue-tie can result in muscle hypertrophy (overgrowth), just
like lifting weights makes arm muscles bulkier.

This baby is still young enough to benefit from treatment of a
tongue-tie if this is indeed the problem.

Since there is now no pain, let the baby breastfeed to see if practicing
at the breast can improve the baby's ability to transfer milk. If there
is no improvement in a week or two, perhaps mom can find a health care
professional to assess and treat.
