Have any of you other hospital RNs or LCs encountered the new gift pack
from M--d J-----n? They just showed up today, no order was placed
requesting them. They are for the "Breast or formula feeding mother" and
contain not just the can of powered stuff, but also a pack of the
ready-to-feed. Both my boss and I were so angry we nearly threw them out;
needless to say, they won't be given to the breastfeeding moms. We are in
the process of trying to convince management to stop accepting these packs
altogether, but it's a slow process in a small hospital like ours. I was
actually quite surprised that they sent them, the company knows how strong
we are about breastfeeding (latest stat is 73%) and the rep knows me and my
boss well enough to realize we wouldn't tolerate this. They have just cut
their own throat as only formula feeding mothers will get their propaganda,
and that is a very small number in our hospital.
