Good point to make Rosemary. Allergies are an important
consideration. My dad has anaphylactic allergies to crustaceans and
multiple shellfish.

Having worked with several moms who's infants and toddlers have
severe, life-threatening allergies to fish, I'll pass on to the list
that in all of the cases, the MD allergists ok'd the use of
molecularly distilled fish oil by the mom during the period of
breastfeeding *and* directly by the child later on because the
molecularly distilled fish oils contain no problematic proteins.
(their words not mine). Of course, this is not to be construed as
medical advice, please consult with your health care professional etc
etc:)

Sardines, mackerel, anchovies are used for the vast majority of fish
body oils available on the US market:

A few are from wild salmon which have little to no contaminants anyway
and therefore are minimally processed - in otherwords, not appropriate
for those with fish allergies:

While cod liver oil is obviously cod based, it's rare - though
possible - to find a fish *body* oil that contains cod though cod
liver oil and any rare fish body oil containing cod would be
molecularlly distilled nearly all of the time.

All the best,
Katherine
