Kathleen B.,
I gave professional courtesy (pump at my cost) to my personal physician on her
breastpump rental. It did not keep her husband from billing me $375. recently
for an office visit with tests that my insurance company balked at paying!
She has been referring mothers since she used the pump and loved it. I also
give courtesy to an OB nurse friend who has made referrals as well. That's
the real reason for providing courtesy, not that docs can't afford pumps, but
that the 'nice' aspects nurture that vital networking.
