Because I happen to have the time at this moment:

It was written: "Personally, I think some of you are going way over the top
with your reactions to all of this. <snip> I do think the level of
over-reaction is mind boggling. "

Jaye here: We all have a right to our opinion. However, I must comment on
the lack of respect toward this entire group time and time again. Just a
couple of days ago we, as a list, were told to "cut the criticism". So, why
are we again being criticized and in addition being publicly disrespected?

People do themselves a true disservice when they treat their colleagues
disrespectfully. It makes them look unprofessional and they end up losing
credibility with their colleagues. I wonder why some find it necessary to
continue to make disparaging and disrespectful remarks about the wonderful
people on this list.

While one person may not be able to see why others are so upset, it is
unprofessional to belittle and disrespect those who take the time to discuss
their fears and concerns about an issue that is very important to them.
While one may think some are overreacting - is it really necessary to 1) say
so and 2) treat an entire group of 3000+ breastfeeding professionals around
the world as if they are stupid little children for being upset about an
issue that doesn't bother everyone in the same way? None of us is happy
with the SoP - but why are those speaking openly about their fears and
concerns being criticized? I just cannot see what it does for anyone,
professionally or otherwise, to treat their colleagues this way.

We are not always going to see eye to eye with each other - that is simply a
fact of life. We are not always going to agree with each other on
everything. There is nothing wrong with that. However, I believe it is
within all of our abilities to state our opinions without being sarcastic,
rude and demeaning to the rest of the list. If we can't find it within
ourselves to treat the rest of the list with some modicum of respect and not
publicly disrespect us then I respectfully ask that opinions be limited to
the issue itself and the personal feelings of the writer and no comments be
made about other members (or their feelings, opinions or beliefs) on this
list.

The bottom line on Lactnet is that we are all supposed to "Play Nice. If
you will notice in this post I have not criticized anyone, I have not called
anyone names nor I have not disrespected anyone in any way - I have "Played
Nice". I don't need to be rude and disrespectful to anyone to make my point
or opinion known. I do have the ability to express my feelings without
being disparaging, rude or disrespectful. I believe that we all have that
capability IF we choose to exercise it.

My Grandma always told me - if you can't say something nice - don't say
anything at all. It was a good lesson then and a good one now.

Jaye
