A woman called me today. She is due in January, but has been
experiencing some pre-term labor. She has been taking Klonopin for
anxiety. Her doctor said she could not breastfeed while taking this
drug-----she's been taking it throughout her pregnancy.

I looked it up in Hale's '96 book, but I was wondering if there is some
new information. Also, is there an alternative. This woman is hesitant
to try an antidepressant as she said she "freaked out" while on Zoloft.

She wants to make an informed decision and does feel the risk of abm
would probably outweigh the risk of any medication getting into her milk.

I'd appreciate any information you all have.

Thanks.

Aloha,
