Does "First Peoples" include folks from Central and South America, too, like some Guatamalans? We are assisting mothers who speak their own dialect instead of Spanish. Are they more prone to diabetes also? I saw a segment on a US news show 'Nightline' about rampant diabetes in West Virginia, US: dialysis, blindness, etc. They said it's easy to ignore because there is no immediate pain with diabetes, til it's too late. I wish they would say 'BREASTFEED!' when they show such suffering. Breastfeeding is proactive and gives hope.
