I just returned from the IOWA State Lactation TAsk Force and can share the
following:          PKU
1. Apparently the PKU test is now modified and is less lickely to miss
something at 24 hours, so that is why it can be done now at 24 hours.  SOme
people shared that the lab department had this information.

        Discharge Packs
2. The R--- rep handed out to one of out LC's a glossy 4 color 4page handout
that very carefully never says discharge packs.......they are called
INFORMATION packs don't you know.  The data in this handout *proves* that
women who are given ABM at discharge BF longer than the women who were not
given ABM.  Of course the data doesnot say that the difference was
stasitically significant and it was R--- that did the study.  On the pack
cover is a comparison of the BFHI and the US BfHI and something that says
Consider the options.

3.  I was pleased to learn that one of our wonderful LACTNETTERS Tom Hale,
R.Ph., Ph.D. will be speaking at the 7th Annual BF Conference in DSM.  If you
want more info about this send me a post card with your name and address and
I'll pass it along to the correct people. ( I have nothing to do with the
conference other than living in Iowa and being a past speaker this year on
Promoting BF in a Bottle Feeding Culture)
