I'm glad you asked that question! I've pondered this over the years. At a
conference at some point in my life I recall learning that the type of skin
and muscle we have on the nipple/areolar complex doesn't toughen up or
develop callouses. Then why do we get used to breastfeeding? What changes -
the baby's latch? Something must happen. The stretch is an interesting idea.
What do others think?
