Absolutely. It's physiological to still produce colostrum on day 3. 
Supplmenting as early as this is setting the mother up for failure - 
what about skin to skin ad lib, to encourage breastfeeding, and 
keeping mother and baby together to allow this to happen?

How great was the weight loss?



It's not surprise she is not producing much on day 8, after this poor start.

Then the sad thing is, as you suggest, Kristen, she may blame herself 
for doing it wrong : (
