Dear Lactnetters,
There is a mum with Chrohn's disease who has been prescribed Pentasa 500
mg QID for 2 weeks, but will likely be on it longer. I searched the
archives and found mention that it is considered safe to use during
breastfeeding but does this include the early weeks when the baby's
system is not as mature? The baby is three weeks old.
If you have any experience or suggestions I'd appreciate it as she has
been told by the "Mother risk" line (Is that related to your clinic Dr.
Newman?) that she should be pump and dumping her milk. If this is in
fact the case would nursing on an "empty" breast be okay to maintain the
nursing relationship?

Your help always appreciated,

Jennifer Molavi
