I was fortunate to attend the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, Healthy
Environments conference in Washington, DC last week, as the (new)
Maternal Wellness and Lactation Program Manager for The EPA . Initially
I felt the tone was pretty negative towards BF but it was the way the
info was given, all negatives about BF followed by advantages later in
the day. By the time positive info re: BF was discussed I was agitated,
to say the least. I was asked to address a few concerns and took full
advantage of the 5 minutes allowed to try and give a more positive light
to BF and also discuss the negatives of ABM. The room was full of Jr/Sr
nursing students and I was appalled that the format immediately turned
them off BF and breastmilk.
A few good websites with more information are:

http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/dls
http://www.ewg.org/reports/bodyburden
www.protectingourhealth.org
www.noharm.org

EPA also has some info. on their website.
Have a good day,
