Joanne, I was intrigued by your comment regarding spearmint and
breastfeeding, so I consulted a couple of my herbalist "tomes" and could
only come up with PEPPERMINT (M. piperita) being known to reduce milk flow,
and that no form of mint should be given directly to young babies as it can
irritate the mucous membranes. Peppermint contains large amounts of
menthol. Garden mint is usually spearmint (M. spicata), which is not as
strong as peppermint and is good for children for travel sickness,
promoting sweating in fevers, and migraines linked to overheating. I
imagine that this means it will have little or no effect on milk
production.

By the way, dear friends, I am the idiot who used my "reply to author"
function by mistake and prompted the housekeeping message from Kathy Bruce.
Sorry! Urk! Won't do it again, I PROMISE!
