This morning, Nikki wrote,

down by being breastfed, and also that the risk of pre- and postmenopausal
breast cancer goes down when women breastfeed at least 3 months, and longer.
It would be so powerful if the ACS listed breastfeeding, along with low-fat
diet and frequent check-ups, as a recommendation.

If anyone out there in lactation land could quote me some statistics on this,
or even turn me on to some references, I would really appreciate it. I
believe this to be true and have more than once tossed this off as a fact,
but I have also often been challenged (by folks who don't know anything
about lactation, which is generally why I am having the conversation with
them in the first place), and I would feel better the next time this comes up
if I could refer to some actual data so I am not just talking through my hat.

Thanks!
