I saw this video on you-tube: just animation of animals breastfeeding
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2R5_Wdz9zgc

I think that children's views on breastfeeding is much different than an adults view. When hearing conversations about public breastfeeding I hear some comments like "I don't want my child seeing that". But do we really know what children think.

Instead of this being just education for the children we (adults) could learn a lot from this class.

I would start off by asking the kids questions - start off by simply asking 'What do you know about breastfeeding?'. Ask them what the recommended age a child should breastfeed for, what do they feel about seeing a mother breastfeed, do they think the mother should hide in a bathroom when her child is hungry.

I wonder if kids think there is a difference between 'nursing' and 'breastfeeding'. I remember when we had newborn puppies I always said "The mommy is nursing her babies" and I don't think I said 'breastfeeding' when I was referencing an animal. So, it makes me wonder if the kids see a difference between the two?

To bad you couldn't record it. I am sure there will be plenty of children who see breastfeeding as 'no big deal' and we could use it as a public service announcement to parents - they are the ones who make it a big deal.

In the end of the conversation - ask the kids to help us - Help us to teach and educate adults about breastfeeding.
