Last night on hte local news, it was reported that a horrifying and
potentially lehel mistake occurred in a hospital in FL. A HIV+ infant
was given to a momto breastfeed. This infant was not her own. She later
breastfed her own infant so now thr
ee people were exposed to the deadly AIDS virus. I hope some is working
with this mom to calm the hysteria about this story. Back in my NICU
days, giving
an infant another mother's milk was considered a grave error and every
party
was tested for HIV.  Too bad all this misinformation has helped in the
lack of use for donor milk.
