Thanks, Julieanne, for the positive encouragement!  You are quite right in suggesting that legislative strides in CA often break ground for the rest of the states to follow...we can only hope!  Not all states are as enlightened or progressive as we tend to be...sometimes that's a good thing, actually ; )

Excerpted from recent contact with DeLeón's aid, Emily Cohen [log in to unmask] :

"At the moment we are just getting organized for the hearing, set to be heard in health committee on April 28th.
We are collecting letters of support from different organizations and individuals.
Thank you for your time and support of this measure. If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Take care,
Emily"

**Is anyone here from the USBC?  A letter from the committee would really be helpful!  Same goes for the Academy of BF Med...anyone out there able to help?

Also, perhaps letters from pediatricians, like Dr Jay and the Dr.'s Sears; they could add some weight...Breastfeeding-related authors, doctors and other known proponents too...The more letters the better, no matter your residence, specialty...

I attended my own legislator's recent open house (Lori Saldaña), and asked for her support of the bill.  She's a Democrat, and they are much more likely to support the *people*, over corporations and insurance companies...She was aware of it and finds it favorable.  However, she's smart enough to know that there will be considerable resistance from the "business" community.

Passage of this legislation could be the tipping point we've been waiting for here in the US...See http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/ for much more and to subscribe to alerts on the progress of this bill (refer to AB 513 -DeLeón).  Thanks for your support!  Blessings,
