>Today I met a mom who's 8 w.o. baby boy has visible blood in his stool.
Before I considered weaning this baby, I would want to make sure that the
foul green diarrhea stools aren't due to Clostridium difficile enterocolitis
- "Pseudomembranous colitis", which often manifests itself like this after
antibiotic treatment. This often clears itself in an infant, but if the
baby is toxic, it can be treated with metronidazole. Testing for
C.difficile is relatively easy (at least in Canada) and would be far ahead
of weaning this baby who's otherwise doing so well.
