Chris,
In The Netherlands it is tradition to serve ''beschuit met muisjes'', which is
double baked bread (Zwieback) with ''little mouses'', which are anise-seeds in a
sugar-coating (wth the little thread sticking out as the moustail). The new mom
is expected to eat one with every new visitor in the first 10 pp days and since
old times on it said to bring in the milk.
Fennel is used as a anti-colic tea for babies here and as so added to mother's
milk teas.
