 Jacquie,
It seems that the use of botox in breastfeeding mothers should be studied.  Is this just another example of sexism in medicine?  Not all uses of botox is for reducing forehead wrinkles!

 Hello all

Rather topical with the scorpion discussion: I'm struggling to find any
information on botox injections for migraines during breastfeeding, and
can't bring up anything from the archives.  Nothing in Infant Risk either;
I'm wondering whether I'm misspelling all the words. :-)

All articles/papers I've read reference one case study of a mum who was
actually poisoned, but her breastfeeding child was not affected though
continuing nursing.  Other indications are that medical uses deliver a far
lower level of botulin toxin.  Hale has this listed as L3 'probably safe'.
Yet all end with a recommendation to avoid botox during breastfeeding to be
on the safe side.

The mum has suffered for 18 months and had planned to feed for up to 4
years, but is at the end of her tether.    The current meds are not
helping.  Her one other option is the combined birth control pill, but she
has experienced depression on the Pill before, and fears that returning.

Best wishes
Jacquie
