I don't agree really that "bottles will be needed". I am willing to
admit that most people will USE bottles, because that is basically what
our culture dictates...but if people were used to giving a supplementer
(like an SNS or lact-aid) to another (non lactating) woman for her to
use, or using it on someone's finger, or feeding by eyedropper or
cup...whichever of these ended up being what society did in general,
would be the way the milk was fed to the baby. A RECIPIANT is needed to
collect the milk, but a bottle does not NECESSARILY have to be the
implement of choice with which to actually transport the milk to the
infant. I admit it most likely WILL be what is used most of the time in
today's society, but with time and patience, we COULD end up changing
that...in years to come. For what it's worth, my own daughter never got
a bottle in her life. She did get pumped milk though on a handful of
occasions...in the Avent recipiant with the silicone soft spout on it.
Dad (or whoever) just tipped it up and down so she'd get a mouthful at a
time. She was like her mom (me) and knew a good thing when she saw it
(the boob) and refused all teats to begin with.
