"As far as I have read there would not be a contraindication to the vaccine
for the breastfeeding mother other than the possibility of the mother being
one of the very few who develop lesions. A small percent of that group will
be contagious; the concern is not knowing who of those with lesions are
contagious so all who develop lesions need to be considered contagious. And
just like with the actual disease you are contagious before any lesions
appear.
Linda Beckler, RN, BSN, IBCLC"

Linda,
Do you have a reference on this? My understanding is those legions are only
contact contagious and are only the vaccine virus. So unlike natural chicken
pox disease which is also spread via respiratory droplets they are not
contagious prior to breaking out. Im presently at home and my "Pink Book" is
in my office but I'll clarify this for everyone on Monday or Tuesday.
