 Doesn't part of the answer relate to the fact that breastmilk changes its proportions of nutrients as the infant grows?  Would a growth spurt signal the factory that a different kind of milk is necessary now, and in the meantime the baby nurses frequently to get what he can, while the factory is changing its product?
