"Ignorance " starts early. Breastfeeding is NOT well taught in most medical
schools (some of us are working to change that). You won't be taught what
the senior docs don't know much about - or what you are taught will be based
on medical textbook information which is NOT up to date or remotely accurate
in many cases. And besides how important would YOU think a subject is if you
only get a 1 hour lecture on it in four whole years?

Offer to lecture to med students and residents. Or if you're not comfortable
speaking in front of big groups, offer to do small group sessions. Leave
accurate reference materials or handouts. The docs who are taught early on
tend to do better [just like the babies brought to breast early do better]
and these docs when they go out in the world will teach their old
under-educated and mis-educated colleagues. The best change comes from
within the system.
