Judy,
I have done many presentations for Jr. High as well as High School on BF. (
My daughter-now 16yrs. has told me, if I ever show up in her class, she will
leave and never acknowlege me as her mom) I do feel that we should be
starting at the preschooler age or before with breastfeeding babys. The more
exposure these kids get, the more they will think BF is normal. The
presentations I did seemed to be very effective. In fact one was vidiotaped
and cont. for several yrs. there after. I would initially ask if anyone
knew if they were BF. That would get them giggling and looking around at
each other. Then I would ask "Why do moms want to BF their babies?" It was
amazing the responses. After that, the class was more relaxed and I would go
into the adv. of BF, alittle on anatomy & physiology (depending on the grade
level). Then I would discuss the wives tales of BF followed with Q & A. I
really enjoyed the experience!!!!!
