It is pretty old research now that showed the volume of breastmilk consumed
by a baby didn't increase significantly between the first month and the
sixth month. From my recollection the average volume is 700 - 750ml with a
range of +/- 250ml. The average volume consumed at 5 days of age is 700ml
apparently.

With this in mind I tell mothers who are expressing exclusively to aim for
the 700ml and on that some babies will be very happy, others won't want
that much and others will tell you to pump more please - but you won't know
unless you listen to your baby.

Denise
PS: Divide by 30 to convert to ounces.
