I have known this happen more than once...and on other occasions, there has
been unnecessary panic because the scales' result, which here show metric
weights, has been translated incorrectly into Imperial by the person doing
the weighing. They have a chart near the scales, and it is very easy for
the eye to stray to the wrong line of it.

We use both systems, metric and Imperial, and while metric is the
'official' system, mothers and many health professionals still talk in
pounds and ounces. However, liquids, formula and EBM, are now only ever
talked about in mls, not ounces or ccs.  Do not ask me why.....
