Good Day to All,

I have also been reading this thread with interest and some concern, specifically about the citation of the Hauck abstract showing a protective relationship between pacifiers and SIDS. This report lead to a lot of controversy in the breastfeeding commmunity at the time of publication.

My concern relates to the 'danger' of reading only the abstract, in lieu of the full report. If memory serves me correctly, despite a multivariate analysis, the published report shows they did not control for exclusive breastfeeding, but only 'ever breastfed'. As Roosje's reply indicates, we know that there are reports of a protective relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and SIDS.
