I don't post very often anymore.  I have trouble keeping up with my four year old if I do 
anything but lurk.

Anecdotally, my son had  mucousy, runny stools that stained the inside of the diaper covers 
bright orange if I ate apples (same reaction for tomatoes, citrus).  He did not get any 
antibiotics and was an unmedicated homebirth (so I know he was properly colonized:-)  I 
never had him tested for occult blood in the stools, but it would explain the stains on the 
water proof cover.  He still gets diarrhea and a body rash if he eats them.  Pears do not 
seem to bother him and even Nashi are fine- but apples are a no go.
