I have not checked my emails for the past week, but noted the looking for
"information on cultural
beliefs related to the African American population??"  I;m not sure if you
have checked this book but it may help. It's called "CHILDBIRTH WISDOM From
the World's Oldest Societies" by Judith Goldsmith published by Congdon &
Weed, Inc. New York 1984.  It is a wonderful book. I first read it 12 years
ago before my first of four children was born.  Hope this helps.
