I have not heard about this...I thought bloody stools=colitis, and I don't
understand how lactose overload could cause this. I would also be concerned
about delaying removal of the offending allergen (whether cowsmilk protein
or soy or whatever). I saw a 7 week-old baby earlier this week who had been
having bloody green stools (with no fussiness) for a month, and they
improved in a few days after mom eliminated dairy. (It wasn't until she
came to see me that she was told about "hidden dairy"...<sigh>) This baby
was also thriving, but the Pedi was not comfortable with the continuing
grossly bloody stools. And I have to admit I would also have a hard time
turning my head the other way, because you would hate to let an inflammatory
process continue on and on unchecked in the baby's gut.

What do others think?
