Paula Meier, RN, PhD is doing wonderful work in the NICU at Rush in Chicago.
She is an excellent speaker to hear with a wealth of research on breastmilk
and the low birthweight baby.  Her program has managed to encourage almost
100% of moms (of varying socio/economic backgrounds) to atleast pump and
provide EBM during the first several weeks or months.  I would encourage
anyone to hear her speak.  She fortunately, has a great deal of support in
her institution as well as credibility.  One point of emphasis for these moms
is that they atleast express milk for their baby during the critical time in
their early life even if they choose never to put baby to breast.
