I have a hospital coworker with a 4 year old boy who was breastfed and her younger child is 2. The 4 year old has been having serious GI issues and has an ulcer in his duodeum about size of quarter and has him on Nexium which the insurance is not covering.? She asked me about initiating relactation and would be willing do this if it would help heal or make his pain less.

I suggested she speak with her pedi GI and I asked permission to post since you are my wise women who would know if this was worth the effort and expense.? He is lactose intolerant and she has had him on all kinds of milks other than bovine. I even suggested she think of banked human milk.? She is leery of this since she thinks it would be too difficult finding a donor with dietary restrictions etc.?

Help me give her a reasonable explanation.
