I didn't see a reply to this so my apologies if this is redundant:
The research that cites milk storage in the refrig for 8 days is by Pardou, A
et al. Human Milk Banking: influence of storage processes adn of bacterial
contamination on some milk constituents. Biol Neonate 1994: 65:302-309.
Lois Arnold of the Human Banking Association has mentioned this in a past
post. It is not a practice recommendation but a guideline. human milk is much
hardier than it has been given credit for.
This research is legitimate - and is cited by LLLI in several places. Is that
where the comment on "lay group recommendations" comes from? LLLI has the most
extensive collection of research articles on breastfeeding in the world and a
medical advisory board with MDs and PhDs from many different medical
backgrounds who review all written materials. "Lay group" indeed! Sorry for
the attitude but that really pushes my buttons to defend LLL.
