Just readmitted a mom to unit for high blood pressures post-partum day 3.
Baby is nursing fine and mom is on Magnesium (MgS04). Doctors were fine
with the breastfeeding... We just want someone with mom while the baby is in
the room with her. So Dad stays.. Hales book talks about this. MgSo4 is
poorly absorbed orally... It really only poses a danger with the baby in utero.
Somthing new in the last few months...........We are no longer using mag for
treatment of preterm labor as we did before. Why, the risk to baby
outweighed potential benefit of keeping babies in utero longer. It just wasn't
proven to stop PTL.

Hopefully those who need to give this infor to the MD's have enough info
now. It's a L1. AAP approved...

Good luck,

Robin
banging her head today..tongue tie on saturday. Peds cant do it. Parents
upset they had to wait till today.. At least it is done. This pedi doesnt' realize
the importance of breastfeeding to this family. And she is not happy with
me. I have an envelope of info waiting for her. aagggggghhhh....
