A question, based purely on my personal experience: What is this mother
eating? If she is eating sugars and starches that quickly break down into sugars
(e.g., rice cakes, pasta, bread) and little protein or fat, she may be going through
a cycle like this: sugar consumption leading to over-release of insulin leading to
quick hunger rebound. She may simply have to adjust her diet to include
adequate protein and cut down the simpler carbohydrates and find that she's
satisfied for a longer time between meals.

In any event, such an adjustment carries little risk and will show itself to be
effective or not in a matter of a few hours.
