Here's my 2 cents. I'm a lawyer, not a medical professional. I'm *ahem*
closer to obese than malnourished. I'm Rubenesque (if you know what I
mean). I produced milk the likes of which my midwife had never seen.
Without a bra, I soaked sheets and the milk dripped onto the floor. I
leaked constantly for the first 18 (yes, 18) months that I nursed my
children (2 for a total of 4 years). If there's something to this, it's not
in my family. My grandmother tells stories of nursing her babes and the
milk would soak through her dress and pool on the floor. Her body type is
like mine (only shorter). Maybe we're anomolies. Maybe there needs to be
more research. Maybe it's more of body image than prolactin. Whoever knows
the answer can educate me.

Friends,
I found that this to be true in my practice more where obese women
stopped breastfeeding than the run of mill non-obese. But what I found
was these women did not produce sufficient amount milk. My thinking
was always that the weight of the fat on the mammary ducts caused an
almost tight binder or crushing effect the in the breast secretory cells
and thus causing the breast to go into a pseudo weaning mode.
Just my opinion.
