Yesterday I saw a mother with very sore nipples.  The baby is 10 weeks
old.  On digital exam (without any milk) I felt chomping and biting.  She
didn't draw in my finger at all.  I suggested to the mother that she try
the basic suck training exercises in the Breastfeeding Answer Book.    I
am not a suck training expert and would like to help this mom.  She has
worked hard at nursing this baby despite significant pain.  Positioning
changes did help some although the baby had some trouble latching on in
prone positions.  With a pacifier she also bit and chomped and did not
hold the pacifier in well.
