This case description again sounds more a case of parental neglect than one
of compliance. Was there a social service consult on this case? Neglect is a
reportable offense and health professionals are obligated to follow up as
directed by state guides. Most large institutions have protocols for this.
Those of us in private practice should become aware of the guidelines in the
the state(s) in which we practice.
